Home: the place where one lives permanently
As a young single adult, not much is permanent in my life. The word home feels vague and hazy. For me, home could mean a number of different things. UVU campus, where I spend the majority of my waking hours during the week. Nature, where I find both adventure and solace. My car, that takes me wherever I need to go, that I have meaningful conversations with those closest to me in, that I sometimes sleep in, and that I recently paid off and officially is my very own. My room, that I pay rent for, store my personal belongings in, sleep in (most nights), decorate and make my own, and spend time taking care of myself in. Long story short, I’m unsure what home is for me right now. I suppose home is what I make it. I chose to make these images feel very soft, hazy, and light, exploring the use of a nylon sock over the camera lens, in part to capture that vague and fuzzy feeling that home implies for me, and also to try to convey the sense of peace and belonging that has come from turning myself, wherever I am and whoever I’m with, into my home.
