Autumn 2025
In a modern world where humans have separated themselves from nature, this project explores the idea that they are one in the same. Even though both have been shaped by the same forces of evolution and have lived hand in hand for the vast majority of history, we now live in a world where the phrase “go out into nature” is commonly said, and most people now spend about 90% of their lives indoors on average, according to The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the American Lung Association. This separation is impacting our mental health, making it harder to understand and prioritize the health of our environment, and distancing us from the idea that resources are limited. When we remember that as humans we are part of nature too, we are more inclined to spend more time in natural spaces that feed creativity and calm our nervous systems. We also have a greater desire to take care of the natural world so that it can in turn take care of us.
